Event Manager

The Melbourne Regional Chamber is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Event Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute events from start to finish. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the ideal candidate will ensure all MRC programs & events run smoothly, stay within budget, and exceed expectations. This individual will manage all event and program-related activities, while also assisting the Marketing & Event Coordinator with event promotion and publicity efforts. All initiatives will be carried out with a strong emphasis on engagement, relationship-building, and partner retention. As a key member of the Chamber team, this role is ultimately responsible for enhancing the impact and effectiveness of events and programs, ensuring they deliver meaningful value to partners and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements the chamber’s event and program strategy.
  • Manages logistics for all events, including but not limited to, contract negotiation with venues, coordinating vendors, and ensuring professional execution.
  • Provides insight on strategies to maximize event participation.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for all events.
  • Measures event success against defined objectives; provides regular analysis and recommendations to Executive Leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Business Development to manage event sponsors and deliver sponsorship benefits as outlined in the MRC sponsorship guide.
  • Ensures the highest value delivered to event and program participants/sponsors in form of recognition, memorable experiences, and professional execution.
  • Leads signature event volunteer committees; recruits, motivates, and communicates with volunteers in alignment with the Chamber’s mission and values.
  • Provides event & program planning support to MRC committees and councils in coordination with staff liaisons.
  • Recommends new events, programs, and partnerships to drive revenue, increase visibility, and strengthen community engagement.
  • Manage MRC event calendar, event registrations, event details in CRM, and other internal event related processes. Makes recommendations to increase staff productivity in these areas.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with staff, board members, chamber partners, and volunteers. Represents the chamber at events, including ribbon cuttings and member engagements.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the President & CEO and/or Vice President of Operations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience in event management, customer service, non-profit, or hospitality.
  • Ability to interact well and build strong relationships with team members, board members and committees, partners, and other stakeholders. Must be team-oriented with charismatic and outgoing personality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to define and articulate the Chamber’s value proposition.
  • Proficiency with A/V technology.
  • Creative. Can think outside the box to offer new ideas, concepts, solutions, etc.
  • Proactive, takes initiative, identifies areas of opportunity.
  • Project management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills; the ability to multi-task is imperative.
  • Competency in effective use of CRM, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexible schedule; able to work evenings and early mornings as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $40,000 - $45,000/yr commensurate with experience

About the Role

This is a full-time, in-person position in Melbourne, FL based on a Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional evening and weekend commitments for events and stakeholder engagement. While the role is primarily office-based, some flexibility for remote work may be considered. Local travel within the Space Coast region is expected. Candidates should have at least 5+ years of experience in event management and strong digital fluency, including Microsoft Office and CRM platforms. Training and onboarding will be provided to ensure a smooth transition into the role and alignment with the Chamber’s goals and systems.
