Job Title: Lead Cybersecurity Engineer

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

Location: Dallas, TX (onsite, 4 days/week)

W2 Pay Range: $65-72/hr

Summary:

Akkodis is seeking a Lead Cybersecurity Engineer for a CONTRACT to HIRE position based in Dallas, TX. The desired candidate will have 6+ years of Cybersecurity experience, including business facing responsibilities. The Lead Cybersecurity Engineer will oversee all aspects of our cybersecurity operations, including managing internal security processes and collaborating with key vendors. This role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on technical expertise to protect our infrastructure and data from evolving threats. You’ll work closely with internal IT teams, executive leadership, and external security partners to ensure robust security measures while supporting business continuity in a dynamic and innovative environment. Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain security technologies (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanners).
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and frameworks.
  • Identify and implement improvements to cybersecurity processes and incident response strategies.
  • Proactively manage infrastructure security risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance.
  • Analyze security alerts and threats, assess risks, and develop response plans.
  • Lead incident response efforts, including breach investigations and remediation.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to integrate security best practices into overall IT strategy.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders during security incidents.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, or equivalent.
  • 6+ years in cybersecurity roles, ideally with leadership experience.
  • MUST BE business facing, experience with stakeholder engagement is a key.
  • Experience in holding companies and/or startups is a plus.
  • Highly preferred: Experience with MDR solutions and securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Bonus: Experience with Meraki systems.
  • Expertise in security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, PCI-DSS) and compliance audits.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, SIEM, intrusion detection, and endpoint protection.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make strategic decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
