Job Description

Senior Manager, Scientific Communications

Location: San Rafael, California

12 Month Assignment (Potential to extend or convert)

Pay Rate: $79/hr.

The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications plays a key role in executing high-quality scientific communication strategies across therapeutic and product areas. Reporting to the Director of Scientific Communications, this individual will manage publication plans, develop scientific messaging, and ensure the integrity of medical content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Publication Strategy & Planning
  • Drive timely execution of scientific communication plans.
  • Develop and maintain Scientific Communication Platforms and messaging.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment on strategy and message gaps.
  • Lead literature reviews and gap analyses to support publication planning.
  • Organize and support expert meetings (e.g., content planning, vendor management, and agenda development).
  • Attend congresses, advisory boards, and similar meetings.
  • Facilitate the creation of treatment and management guidelines.
  • Write and edit scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
  • Oversee contract medical writers and graphic designers.
  • Ensure scientific accuracy, integrity, and compliance with ICMJE and GPP 2022 guidelines.
  • Manage publication tracking systems and reconcile publication records.
  • Respond to internal/external inquiries related to scientific communications.
  • Represent Scientific Communications in cross-functional meetings.
  • Support the budget management process for the team.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS or higher) in life or health sciences required.
  • 5+ years of experience in scientific communications, publication planning, or medical writing.
  • Experience in rare metabolic diseases is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
