Job Description

Smart4Chemicals are looking to recruit an Operations Engineer to support the operation of leading polymer and chemical manufacturer based in Bayport, Texas.

As an Operations Engineer, you will act as a key technical resource for operations personnel, providing engineering support, optimizing unit operations, and implementing cost-saving initiatives. You will also be responsible for process troubleshooting, production scheduling, and ensuring safe and efficient operations.

To be considered for this role as an Operations Engineer, you must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with 0-3 years of experience in an engineering role will be considered, with preference given to those with experience in the petrochemical or refining industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise on the operation of two units, including plant utilities.
  • Support production engineers by overseeing unit processes and ensuring product specifications are met.
  • Work closely with Operations, Technical, and Quality teams to optimize production efficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing production schedules and managing product transitions.
  • Establish and promote safety procedures and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Stay current with advancements in engineering and production technologies, sharing insights to enhance operations.
  • Conduct training for operations personnel on best practices, process improvements, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in procedure reviews, plant qualifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (other technical degrees may be considered based on experience).
  • 0-3 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in the polymers, chemical, petrochemical or refining industry.
  • Strong technical competence and process knowledge.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Willingness to work in a plant environment and adhere to safety requirements.
