Job Description

About EqusTech: EqusTech is at the forefront of innovative therapy device development, starting with groundbreaking solutions for equine health. We are expanding our product line to include both horse and human applications, focusing on advanced silicone-based applicators and precision-engineered devices. Our goal is to deliver stunning, high-tech, and highly functional products that enhance wellness.

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Product Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our fast-paced team. This role is critical in transforming complex design concepts into manufacturable products, particularly within the realm of flexible silicone systems and intricate electromechanical devices. You will work closely with our lead designer and external manufacturing partners, ensuring designs are optimized for production, cost-efficiency, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 3D Modeling & CAD Expertise: Develop detailed 3D models and technical drawings (STEP, STL, DXF) using SolidWorks (or similar CAD software like Fusion 360) for both device components (shells, docks, internal structures) and complex silicone applicators.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Apply a strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, including silicone molding (injection molding, compression molding, pour-in molds), CNC machining (for mold creation), and plastic injection molding. Optimize designs for efficient and high-quality production.
  • Material Science Knowledge: Advise on and select appropriate materials for product components, with a particular focus on silicone properties (conductivity, flexibility, durability, bonding) and plastics (HDPE, Acetal, ABS) for molds and housings.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Generate files for and manage rapid prototyping activities (3D printing, CNC machining of molds) to validate design concepts, fitment, and material behavior. Analyze test results and iterate designs based on feedback.
  • Collaboration with Manufacturing Partners: Work with external vendors (e.g., PCBway, mold makers, cable suppliers, case manufacturers) to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and manufacturing capabilities are leveraged. Respond to technical queries from manufacturers.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve design and manufacturing challenges, especially concerning the unique properties of flexible conductive materials and complex anatomical fits.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare clear and comprehensive documentation for designs, including specifications, assembly instructions, and material requirements.
  • Innovation: Contribute to new product ideas and explore novel manufacturing techniques to enhance product performance, aesthetics, and user experience.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2-5 years) in product design and development, ideally with hands-on experience in bringing products from concept to production.
  • Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of silicone properties, molding processes, and design considerations for flexible parts.
  • Experience with CNC machining, G-code generation, and troubleshooting (or a strong willingness to learn and quickly become proficient).
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes including injection molding, 3D printing, and assembly.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred (Bonus) Skills:

  • Experience with advanced modeling techniques (e.g., parametric design, generative design, T-splines).
  • Familiarity with electrical components and PCB fitment.
  • Experience with user-centered design principles and conducting user testing.
  • A portfolio demonstrating successful product development projects from concept through manufacturing.
  • If you are a passionate and resourceful designer who thrives on tackling complex challenges and bringing innovative products to life, we encourage you to apply.
