Job Title: Senior Product Safety Manager – Electrical Consumer Products

Location: Burlingame & Redwood City, CA (Hybrid: Mon–Wed in-office)

Travel: Frequent international travel to Asia required

Reports to: Chief Safety Officer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Product Safety Manager to lead and evolve the safety program for our new line of licensed decorative lighting products . This is a high-impact role where you'll define risk tolerance, lead safety initiatives, ensure global compliance, and embed safety throughout the product lifecycle—from concept to commercialization.

What You’ll Do:

Safety Program Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end product safety program for our licensed assortment.
  • Define organizational risk tolerance and safety vision aligned with innovation and consumer expectations.
  • Anticipate and mitigate emerging risks, keeping safety strategies ahead of the curve.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure products meet international safety standards (UL, CE, IEC, etc.).
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses (e.g., FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Oversee product testing, including stress and misuse scenarios, to validate safety.

Incident Response & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead investigations into product safety incidents and drive corrective actions.
  • Establish feedback loops from safety data and industry insights to improve product safety continuously.

Regulatory & Documentation

  • Manage documentation including safety certifications, test results, and compliance reports.
  • Guide development of safety labels, manuals, and warnings aligned with global safety standards (UL 588, IEC 60598).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide expert guidance to internal teams on integrating safety into product design.
  • Partner with R&D, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance teams.
  • Lead training sessions for QA, factory teams, and internal stakeholders on evolving safety protocols.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field ( Master’s preferred )
  • 11+ years in product safety management for electrical/consumer goods
  • In-depth knowledge of global electrical safety standards and testing methodologies
  • Strong command of risk assessment tools: FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis
  • Familiarity with EMC, wireless, and environmental compliance
  • Strategic thinking with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to travel internationally (Asia) for factory visits and product testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer electronics product safety
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering and statistical safety analysis
  • Hands-on experience with lab testing and certification processes
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing safety or QA teams
